Wake Up With Leonardo DiCaprio’s Fair Trade Organic Coffee

We haven?t heard much environmental news from actor-activist Leonardo DiCaprio lately. Remember the film The 11th Hour and Greenburg on Planet Green?

But now you can get your morning coffee fix celebrity-style with Leo's fair trade, organic coffee that?s farmed in Haiti, Peru, Ethiopia, and Brazil: LYON, the new high-end line of ?green? beans from coffee roaster La Colombe Torrefaction.

Proceeds (100%) from this conscious coffee will benefit the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) which supports a range of sustainable initiatives.

DiCaprio said in a statement about his latest campaign, "Raising awareness on the most pressing environmental issues of our time is more important than ever."

Leo's velvety coffee blend will benefit a variety of his projects from protecting endangered wildlife to preserving forests and oceans, disaster relief and supporting clean energy.

Adventurer Todd Carmichael is behind the heirloom beans, which he discovered in Haiti.

The roaster follows five principles of ethical trade: Fairness in workers wages and conditions, including clean drinking water, long-term commitment with trading partners and supporting nations in need for greater impact. Certifications include: organic, fair trade and bird-friendly, plus the company assists farmers in becoming Rainforest Certified through grants, admin assistance, know-how, and access to markets.

LYON is available at Williams Sonoma as of February 1, select Whole Foods, La Columbe Cafes, and online.

Treehugger has reported on several of DiCaprio's efforts, dating back to 2004, including the above-mentioned World Wildlife Fund, the fight to end the ivory trade by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, clean water efforts by Global Green USA and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Established in 1998, LDF provides grants to organizations, media campaigns and alliances with influencers to effect change for a sustainable future.

When he's not drinking coffee, Leo can be seen playing J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood?s biopic about the controversial former head of the FBI.
